Inspiring our students to grow, learn and reach beyond the ordinary

Our British Columbia certified teachers are experienced and dedicated. Many have taught and lived overseas. Every teacher in the school mentors approximately 15 students. Our counsellors are trained in social work and educational counselling. Most have international experience. They have the knowledge and resources to offer guidance and support for all students and parents.

All of our teachers and counsellors are involved in the school’s extra-curricular activities. Members of our staff speak Cantonese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and Vietnamese.

I believe that students are at the centre of education. Everything that happens in a school must be judged by the sole criterion: how well will this promote learning and well-being for students while reflecting the Mission and Vision of the school. I work in partnership with other educators, parents and with students.

As the Director of Admissions, I am excited to contact and report to parents about the growth of their child at Bodwell. I learn and grow also, witnessing how students of different ethnic backgrounds harness the merits of their culture and the strength of the Canadian educational system: learning actively, creatively and cooperatively.

I believe that education is one of humanity`s best hopes for a better, more peaceful future. A transformative education which helps young people ask big questions, expose common assumptions about the world, critically examine society, and cultivate empathy and responsibility is the ultimate goal. Anything less than this is only reproducing the status quo. As an educator, a commitment to transformative education is my personal and professional mission.
