What I value most about Bodwell is that we all, students and staff alike, learn so much from each other, every day. It is education in the true sense, a leading out of the best qualities and skills that we all have within us.
I love to teach because I love people, and at Bodwell we have the privilege of getting to know people from all over the world. Students in my classroom are encouraged to value independent and analytical thinking, to communicate with each other, and to understand rather than memorize.
All classrooms should be positive, nurturing environments where students enjoy learning and expressing themselves confidently and intelligently. – It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge – Albert Einstein.
I consider myself fortunate to be able to meet almost all of the students who attend Bodwell. These students possess a rich background of talent and cultures that make music teaching a delight.
My goal as a teacher is to create a safe and respectful environment where students become independent thinkers and are not afraid to take risks in their learning
The three Rs in my classroom are respect, responsibility and relaxation. Respect yourself and your peers. Be responsible for your own actions. Relax and have fun while you are learning.
As an Artist and an Art Educator, it is a privileage to teach young minds at Bodwell High School the essence of visual culture, studio arts and media/photography relations.
A love of reading is the most crucial element of literacy. Conversation and writing are important as well but reading, reading is the key.
Education is an amazing way to broaden personal interests and build responsible global citizens. Bodwell provides a unique base for students to not only learn academic skills but life skills as well. My classroom embodies these ideas providing a caring respectful environment where individuality and opinions are valued and students are encouraged to challenge themselves both academically and personally.
Music education makes an essential and unique contribution to student’s lifelong intellectual, physical, and emotional development. Music also contributes to a healthier society through shared activities that respect and reflect the diversity of human experience.
I encourage all our students to set realistic, positive, inspiring goals for their work in school and for all aspects of their life. It is absolutely exciting to watch as these young people graduate with that confidence and esteem that comes with success.
It is always enjoyable seeing new faces every semester at Bodwell. The students are fun to teach as the classrooms are always filled with a unique range of young individuals from many different countries.
As a teacher I enjoy engaging the minds of my students, and coaching them to read smarter and not harder. I want to make students think and be creative with their multiple intelligences. The culturally diverse classrooms at Bodwell provide a stimulating environment, and encourage students to embrace the world. The smaller classes here are also great because I can know more about each of my students than I could in a larger school.
As a language teacher I find it fascinating watching students put together the puzzle that is language. It is wonderful to see students understand how language works, and to discover that certain languages have many things in common. Having studied Korean and Spanish also lets me consider why some grammar mistakes are being made. I enjoy being able to share the culture of the French language with Bodwell students.
My goal as a teacher is to create a safe and engaging classroom environment where students not only learn the fundamental skills they require to be successful in their post-secondary endeavors, but also discover that if they are principled in their work and personal lives they can accomplish anything they set their minds to.
As a teacher I enjoy watching students succeed and further develop their potential. I am passionate about my subject areas, and providing students with the opportunity to learn life-long skills that will enrich their educational experiences. I am committed to providing students with the essential skills for success in university and later in life.
I am very proud of the culturally rich environment at our school and the wonderful learning opportunities it provides both inside and outside of the classroom. I care very much for our Bodwell family and am devoted to inspiring our students to learn and be successful in life.
Language and literature are fundamental elements of any well-rounded education. Literature forces us to challenge our beliefs and assumptions, while language is a powerful tool for asking questions and making new connections. I hope that all Bodwell students will come to appreciate the complexities and beauties of the English language and its literature.
It is a pleasure teaching at Bodwell High School, a school dedicated to teach students of diverse backgrounds. As a teacher, my goal is to create a learning environment that caters to the individual learning styles of my students. I strongly believe that mutual respect, encouragement, appreciation of the uniqueness of each individual, and acknowledgement of student work, are keys to a successful and supportive classroom environment.
I believe firmly in the power of Literature and Language to empower and improve the lives of students, as well as people as a whole. I am very passionate about great works of literature and am excited to be sharing my expertise and experience with students. I hope students will discover the power of writing, and how it can be a source of positive energy, healing, and inspiration. I feel the same way about physical exercise, and is equally excited to be involved in the Fitness Club at Bodwell High School.
Science is a way for each individual to understand everything around him or her. I teach science to help students understand more about their world.
My goal is to help students develop the skills and knowledge that will enable them to succeed in all domains of life. Bodwell is an exciting and unique environment. Students can collaborate with individuals from all over the globe and participate in a variety of activities.
Education is about being active learners in the classroom. I take this philosophy seriously, not only for my students, but for myself as well. As Bell Hooks wrote, “education is the practice of freedom…. education that connects the will to know with the will to become. Learning is a place where paradise can be created. At Bodwell, students and staff are all working together to create a positive learning environment.
At Bodwell High School, the hallmark of all interactions is mutual respect, tolerance, and understanding. My educational goal as a teacher at this school, is to guide students in appropriate ways in their attitudes and actions through formal and informal instruction, positive role modelling, and the creation of a general atmosphere that fosters these ideals daily.
I am excited to join the learning community at Bodwell High School, where staff and students from around the world come together to create strength in diversity. As a new staff member, I am working to develop positive relationships with students that facilitate learning in the classroom. As a literacy teacher, I encourage students to actively create meaning from texts through cooperative learning and shared inquiry.
Teaching Bodwell students is a very serious responsibility. My goal is to help students become ’soul captains’.
I was drawn to teaching by my eagerness to share my knowledge and passion for science. Nonetheless, my teaching philosophy revolves around interpreting the simple yet profound statement: A teacher’s role is to ‘teach students’ first, then to ‘teach a subject’. To me, student success means realizing one’s potential, not just academic potential, but all areas of growth including those related to career, social and personal development. My job of ‘teaching students’ is to motivate and enable each student to reach this goal.
