“Since I have been at Bodwell I have watched many people who are now my closest friends grow to be proactive and dynamic human beings. I have grown with them thanks to the amazing teaching staff I have had the opportunity to learn from. Bodwell has taught me that strength really does lie in diversity, and I know when my day comes to graduate I will be leaving to make a positive impact in the world.” – Matthew Harker, Canada

Admissions

Welcome! From the Director of Admissions

Dear Students and Parents,

Thank you for considering Bodwell High School as the choice to prepare yourself for university.

Mrs. LeeIn keeping with our mission and vision, we dedicate ourselves to the character development of each student. We uphold these values at Bodwell: kindness, compassion, honesty, acceptance, diligence, perseverance, fairness and social justice.

In order to succeed, you must have good physical health. You are required to provide your school immunization record (translated into English) and complete the Medical Information Section of the application form. After we have received your fees, we will apply on your behalf for private health insurance for the first three months, followed by 6 months of the Medical Services Plan (MSP) of the province of British Columbia. It is your responsibility to continue to pay MSP premiums on a monthly basis so that you have medical coverage throughout your stay. In the event that you require medical or nursing care and the MSP is not valid, your parents will be responsible for covering all of the costs.

Bodwell High School is a non-smoking environment. Students and visitors see different reminders around the school. We have a strict no-smoking policy for our students. A student who is found smoking in the school or its vicinity will face serious consequences including expulsion. Please read the policy very carefully. In our Student Residence, no-smoking policy is strictly upheld for the health and safety of every student. Students coming to the Residence must study the “Rules and Expectations of Student Residence” in detail.

When you come to Bodwell, you will be assigned to one of our four “Houses,” named after Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, and Pierre Trudeau. These people, we feel, embody the values for which Bodwell stands. Students in Bodwell learn about their life and struggle, their aspirations and achievements, and their commitment and contribution to society. We strive to nurture our students, and nurture each other in the progressive spirit of these great people. We encourage you to participate actively in our house activities.

We look forward to seeing you at Bodwell.

Sincerely,

Cathy Lee
