The above-noted tapestry was inspired by Bodwell's own Ms. Walsh! Students and staff contributed to the work. This product is a symbolic demonstration of how different lives, taken together, contribute to the richness of Bodwell's North Vancouver global village!
At Bodwell High School students are given the chance to participate in a wide range of learning and experiential activities. These opportunities help Bodwellians become well-rounded citizens - contributors to the multiple dimensions of life. Involvement with artistic endeavour is encouraged to support students as they pursue this important objective. James Whistler (the artist who painted 'Whistler's Mother') had much to tell us about the nature of art:
"Art happens - no hovel is safe from it, no Prince may depend on it, the vastest intelligence cannot bring it about, and puny efforts to make it universal end in quaint comedy, and coarse farce".
James McNeill Whistler, The Gentle Art of Making Enemies
The work presented here illustrates the creativity and passion of many remarkable Bodwell students.
The Arts Review Committee (Ms. Walsh, Ms. Carson, Ms. Brown, and Mr. R. Smith) wish to acknowledge and commend the effort of the students whose work is presented here.
Members of the Bodwell High School Educator Team are thanked for their on-going help in identifying notable examples of student artistic expression!
