We enable students from around the globe to become active learners and well-rounded citizens who contribute positively to the world.
On June 9, 2011, Bodwell High School joined the City of North Vancouver to celebrate the official opening of the Harbourside West Overpass, the newest section of the North Shore Spirit Trail. This path and bridge provides a vital link for students and others across three railway tracks to connect Kings Mill Walk (along the waterfront by the school) to West 1st Street. It will allow students to take a quicker, safer walk from Bodwell High School to the many city amenities found at Capilano Mall and Marine Drive. Not only this, it is a beautiful route allowing students to relax and take in the natural sights alongside MacKay Creek.
Several years ago, Bodwell pledged financial support to this project to better connect our students to the rest of the community. Many former students took of their own time to raise awareness among the public and to urge the City to help advance this infrastructure idea. Who would have dreamed that years later, thanks in small part to Bodwell’s support, this idea would have come to reality.
After class on June 9, Bodwell students Isadora Pansani and Raito Ono, along with Principal Jim Burnett and Founder Paul Yuen, joined Mayor Darrell Mussatto, Hon. MLA Naomi Yamamoto and other dignitaries in cutting the ribbon leading to the new overpass. It was an honour to have this day’s ceremony started off with an eloquent blessing by a First Nation elder from the local Squamish Nation. He helped all of us show appreciation for our natural surroundings and for the long history of traditional peoples on these lands. Bodwell is indeed in a very special place in the world!

We hope that many Bodwell students in years to come will enjoy the convenience and safety of this new development and will remember the efforts of previous generations of students.
