Bodwell celebrated the graduation for the 130 members of the Class of 2012 on Mar 30th. Miss Paula HeshKay Porto gave a valedictory speech and we had a special guest Mr. Ajay Puri giving special messages to Bodwell graduates. Bodwell Singers, coached by Mr. Woo, Ms. Kainer and Ms. Tong sang “Bridge Over Troubled Water” for our Graduates. And here are some excerpts from the principal’s message to Bodwell graduates by Mr. Kevin Booth.
“At Bodwell, the staff and students understand that learning most effectively occurs in an environment of trust and respect. This environment fosters a lived experience of our motto; “Strength in Diversity”.
The members of the Class of 2012 have modeled student learning as a process that is shaped by internal and external experiences, honed by practice, exploration, reflection, action and evaluation. This paradigm for learning supports our goal for all Bodwell students: to provide a unique educational experience, in a diverse and intercultural environment that will lead to a will by our graduates to serve others and make a difference in this world.

To the Class of 2012, this is your challenge…to go forth to serve others and make a difference in this world and this is meant to be done in your actions and deeds. Mahatma Gandhi, the patron of Gandhi House, meant to remind us of this when he said, “You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no result.”
To the Class of 2012…go forward and do what you have learned here at Bodwell and in doing so, know that you make the World better.”
A special video presentation featuring Grads of 2012 and memorable events in 2011-12 school year, prepared by Ms. Chojnacka.
Mr. Ajay Puri gave a speech as a guest speaker. Mr. Puri was recently named one of the top five volunteers in all of Canada, and has founded a wide array of organizations and events on many social and environmental issues, including the group RangiChangi Roots. He has a deep understanding of the strengths and challenges of Canada’s multicultural nature. To learn more about Ajay, visit his website.

There were 113 students meeting graduation requirements during the 2009-2010 school year, and of those, 97 were able to participate in the graduation ceremony on March 26 – more than we have ever had before. In our efforts to promote and strengthen our Alumni Association, we invited a very successful former student, Janice Wong (Class of 1996), to serve as our guest speaker. She proved to be very inspiring for our students, and set a precedent that, perhaps, will become a tradition at our Graduation ceremonies.
