Homestay Program
Your home away from home
Living in homestay ensures a comfortable family atmosphere with ample opportunity to experience local customs and practices. Students improve their English speaking and comprehension skills at a faster rate than students who live in non-English speaking environments. Students are encouraged to eat meals with the family and interact with them on a daily basis.
The Homestay Coordinator carefully screens prospective host families. The proximity of the house to the school, the household environment and the attitude and personality of the family are all considered. The families must provide each student with a private room, three meals a day and be willing to include the student in their day to day activities.
The homestay coordinator stays in close communication with the homestay families. They call or email if there are any concerns. If the student is under the age of 16, the host family will send monthly reports to parents. Although the host families may be of different ethnic backgrounds, they all speak English fluently. Typically two students are hosted at each home.
