Message from the Principal

As this is the last newsletter for the 2010-2011 school year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire Bodwell community for helping with the success of another school year. Each day our students have been supported by a dedicated staff of teachers, counselors, librarian, office personnel, custodians, and kitchen staff. We have an outstanding group of students at Bodwell, student who strive to do their personal best each day! We had a wonderful year of learning and working together. We are very fortunate to be in a school community like Bodwell that supports everyone in our goal of educating children, not only in an academic sense, but in the development of children who are and will be active, caring citizens of the larger society in which they live.

Finally, I would like to take this final opportunity to thank the parents, for their support in sending their children to Bodwell. You have put a good deal of faith and trust in the staff at Bodwell to nurture, protect, teach, and support your children who are away from their homes. It is a level of trust that we take very seriously at Bodwell. We feel honored and blessed to be here and hope you will continue to support our efforts, even long after your children have left Vancouver and Bodwell.

Jim Burnett,
Interim Principal

Thank You to Jim Burnett

Jim Burnett was Bodwell's Interim Principal for the past 2 semesters in 2011. A special thank you to him for his leadership! Please view a Thank You Video from the students.

New Principal - Kevin Booth

BPE, Ed.Cert., Ed. Dip., MALA.

After a long search process Bodwell has appointed Kevin Booth as its 5th Principal in the school's history. Mr. Booth comes to Bodwell from Christ the Redeemer School Division in Okotoks, Alberta, where he spent a total of 5 years as principal and 3 years as vice-principal.

Mr. Booth has 27 years of experience in elementary and secondary education; 18 of those years as an administrator. He has taught physical education, geography, leadership and has had experience as head of counseling and guidance. Mr. and Mrs. Booth have four children and a dog. He will enjoy Vancouver as he likes weight training, running, skiing, biking, scrambling, hiking and camping. We welcome the Booth family to North Vancouver.

Kevin Kubish Departs From Bodwell

Kevin Kubish has been a mainstay as the Director of Residence for the past seven years. When he first arrived at Bodwell, there were only 100 beds for students. Soon, 60 more places were available for dormitory students. Under Kevin's leadership and dedication, the quality of life in the dormitory has improved, due to Kevin's warm, respectful, encouraging family atmosphere for all the students. He always had a smile on his face for the students and staff. Kevin will always be remembered as a key component to the past, present and future success of Bodwell High School and Bodwell Academy.

New Dormitory Ready for September

The students and dormitory staff are looking forward to moving into the new 3rd and 4th floor dormitory wing in September. After over 18 months of construction, the school will have beds for 230 students on campus. We are very grateful for the visionary leadership and direction of Paul Yuen and Cathy Lee for Bodwell since its inception in 1991. We are excited about the opportunities this new wing will create for the students and staff for years to come. This project will have a dynamic impact on the Bodwell community.
