Fundraising Goals for Fall 2007 "By
helping someone who has need, we are helping ourselves" There are many areas in which schools in Kenya need support; in fact, all of the funding for public schools in Kenya currently comes from donations. The concept behind Urafiki is that friendship is the basis for any support we give. This project aims rather
to connect YOU with specific people, classes, and groups in Kenya. As
you come to see these communities/people as friends, colleagues, and
counterparts, we may work together to support these groups when/if they
have needs. General Donations For staff, students, and members of the Bodwell community - donations of any amount are welcome to the 'general' fund to support schools in Kenya. As you donate, please indicate which of the following you would like to support with your donation... 3. examination supplies - the final exams in Kenya require all students to have a 'log book' - a paper book which contains values for cos, sin, log, etc. Students who cannot afford the cost are forced to skip questions involving such calculations - thus reducing their overall exam marks.
2. sports equipment for the school - most 'PE departments' consist of a wooden box in the teachers' area, containing one or two balls (hopefully one with air). High-quality sports equipment is invaluable to the schools!
1. sponsorship for students who can’t pay fees - in Kenya, even public high school requires fees. On average, these fees are approximately $400/year. Students whose parents are unable to pay often withdraw from school
Please consider donating
as you are able; any donations are gratefully accepted and will be
well-used. There are three major
ways in which we building friendships with - and thus potentially
supporting - schools in Kenya:
TUENDE - Extracurricular
PAMOJA - Curricular
