Goal: To build friendship, collaboration, and a community of support between Bodwell High School and three schools in Kenya: Maai Mahiu, Karima, and Longonot Secondary Schools.

Summary: A group of Canadian teachers volunteer their time to work with teachers of Naivasha district to improve teaching practices and build lasting connections with Kenyan schools.

Do you fit the following criteria?

  • at least 5 years of teaching experience

  • interest in supporting education of students in Africa

  • interest in a long-term connection to a Kenyan school

  • willingness to innovate with chalkboard & chalk
    (no photocopiers, no overheads, no TV screens in schools)

  • availability in August 2008

  • ability to finance trip cost (approx. $5000 charitable donation)

For this years's team, we welcome participants who have experience in the following areas:

Subjects: English (including ESL), Math, Science (including Geography)

          Age level: grades 6 – 10

          Other topics: Assessment strategies, classroom management, HIV/AIDS
