English Classes

Classes are taught by teachers who are certified professionals, and many have specialized training in teaching English. They engage students interactively during the learning and strengthening of their English skills. Teachers are all trained to create a positive and fun learning environment through the use of games, drama, singing and a great variety of other activities.

Upon arrival, students participate in a Placement Test to help us assess their English levels and place them in the most appropriate classes. Classes are based on English abilities, age, and a mix of nationalities. Classes typically range in size from 14-17 for Teens, 11-14 for Children and 8-11 for Juniors.

Students will participate in approximately 15 hours of English Classes every week of the program from Monday to Friday. Daily classes contain a variety of lessons on grammar, reading, writing, and verbal skills. In addition, each program has a weekly theme that teachers use to create exciting lesson plans through which to teach English. Some themes include Multiculturalism, the Leader in You, Canada: From Sea to Sky and Ecosystems & Our Oceans.

Teachers of the Juniors and Children classes use the Let's Go Series and Canadian Concepts text books for their lessons. Teen classes use the New Interchange and Passages textbooks, published by Cambridge University Press. These texts supplement the uniquely Canadian instruction style of our teachers. Canadian students are invited to join our program to enhance the English learning environment by providing international students with the opportunity to communicate with additional native English speakers.

At the end of the Program students will participate in a Graduation Ceremony where they will be recognized for their hardwork during their stay. All students will receive a Completion Certificate, Report Card with group photo, and souvenirs!
