Our focus isn’t on casual conversation—it’s on Academic English, the language of essays, textbooks, and higher learning.
Our Foundation and Transitional English Courses equip students with the reading, writing, and study skills needed to excel in a demanding academic environment. Those requiring language support stay on track to graduate with their peers through specialized English acceleration pathways tailored to individual needs.
From the moment students arrive, we assess their English level using the global Common European Framework for References of Languages (CEFR) framework to ensure precise placement and personalized instruction. Wherever they begin, we guide them toward full academic readiness—so they can thrive at Bodwell and succeed at university and beyond.
Structured Learning Pathways
CEFR A1 and A2 Levels: Students enroll in foundational courses, focusing on building vocabulary, mastering academic writing, and enhancing presentation skills.
CEFR B1 Level: Students take Transitional Academic Credits, bridging the gap to full academic proficiency.
Progress is monitored each semester, with opportunities for accelerated advancement through intensive courses, such as those offered in July.
IELTS Preparation for University Admission
Understanding the importance of standardized testing, Bodwell offers dedicated IELTS preparation sessions for students in senior grades. These sessions include mock tests and personalized feedback, aiming to exceed the minimum score of 6.5, as required by most Canadian universities.
