Why would a day student attend a boarding school?

Many independent schools that offer boarding also serve local day students.

At Bodwell, day students benefit from the same academic program, structure, activities, and global learning environment as boarding students, while continuing to live at home. Some local families also choose weekday boarding for added structure during the school week, returning home on weekends.

What if I live in BC but too far to commute to Bodwell everyday?

Is Bodwell a good fit for students with learning differences or IEPs?

Bodwell High School is a university-preparatory academic school. Our programs are designed for students who are working toward university admission and who can meet most academic expectations without formal special education services.

While our small classes, personalized approach and afterschool supports provide guidance and structure, Bodwell is best suited to students who demonstrate growing academic readiness, independence, and a clear university orientation. While we do not offer IEP-based programming, modified curricula, or intensive learning support, to support student success we do provided case-by-case supports such as teacher check-ins, group tutorials, and tutoring where available. Additional supports depend on staffing and scheduling availability.

Fit may vary depending on a student’s learning profile, level of independence, and whether they attend as a day student with family support or as a boarding student living away from home. Families are encouraged to share relevant learning information during the application process so we can assess fit thoughtfully and transparently.

Can I afford to send my child to Bodwell?

Bodwell’s tuition and boarding fees for BC and Canadian students are comparable to other independent schools in the Lower Mainland.

There are no enrolment fees and no mandatory family donations. Families may choose day attendance, weekday boarding, or full boarding, depending on their needs.

We encourage families to speak directly with our admissions team to understand current fees and options.

How do I apply? Do I need to write a test?

Applying to Bodwell is straightforward. There is no standardized entrance test required. Our admissions team works with families through a clear application process.

The application process typically includes:

Booking a tour or submitting an online application
Providing recent school transcripts
A conversation with a member of the admissions team
Teacher references, if requested

Students applying to one of Bodwell’s Real World Academies may be asked to share a portfolio related to their area of interest. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, subject to space availability.

What kind of private school is Bodwell?

Bodwell is a BC Group 4 independent high school, accredited by the Province of British Columbia.

The school follows the BC curriculum and meets all provincial academic and operational requirements. For Grades 8–10, Bodwell is also authorized as an IB World School.
