From academics to campus life, take a look back at key moments from Bodwell High School’s Fall 2025 Semester in this engaging highlight video produced by our media team.

As a BC independent High School with day students, weekday boarding and full boarding options, we have a lot of opportunities available to all our grade 8-12 students. After their core classes finish at 3:30pm, students have the time, specialized facilities, and staff support needed to properly dedicate to athletics, clubs, music, art, and – of course – their studies. Our boarding students even have mandatory, supervised study blocks in the evenings.

Local and International students from 40 countries around the world come to Bodwell for university preparation, rigorous academics, and to develop important life skills. They also come to be part of a global community of peers who are developing intercultural understanding and the ability to have respectful dialogue and meaningful friendships with one another across differences. Some of these friendships will last a lifetime.

We are now accepting applications for our Fall 2026 Semester. Join us for a personalized campus tour and learn more about becoming part of the Bodwell community.

Highlights from Our Fall 2025 Recap Video

1. Our Canadian University Event

University visits are one part of our structured Personalized Pathways Plan that allows students to create (in collaboration with a dedicated counsellor) a flexible academic roadmap that is aligned with their post-secondary ambitions. Every year, we proudly host the Canadian University Event where 50 universities across Canada visit Bodwell, allowing our students to connect directly with admission representatives and ask informed, practical questions. We also host a USA University Fair and invite global universities to our campus for individual presentations.

2. IB-MYP Showcase

Once a year, grade 8-10 students proudly present their well-researched and inquiry-driven Service Learning, Community Project, and Personal Projects. These projects reflect the curiosity, critical thinking, and personal growth they’re fostering through the IB-MYP program at Bodwell. Through these projects, students strengthen and practice a variety of learning skills related to creative and critical thinking, research, self-management, collaboration, and empathy. View some photo highlights from these showcases by visiting our Instagram page.

3. Fine Arts Program in Action

At Bodwell, Fine Arts courses in music and visual arts provide students with a well-rounded education that teaches them discipline and personal expression, while also providing them with portfolios and repertoires for their post-secondary applications.

It enlivens our whole school community to hear students playing music together in their core classes, and as part of Concert Band, Honours Band, and the small ensembles that come together to perform at school assemblies, concerts, and special events. Many students tell us that the first time they performed or exhibited their artwork was a turning point in their lives.

4. Athletics, Clubs, and Enrichment Activities

Fencing at Bodwell

Student life at Bodwell is designed to immerse students fully in ideas, experiences, and a global community that never stops inspiring. Students join recreational sports and athletics teams like soccer, track and field, volleyball, badminton, swimming (we have our own on-campus swimming pool), and much more. Students also dedicate time each week to clubs and volunteering in the community.

Some of the clubs featured in this Fall 2025 recap video were our Robotics Club where students built and coded a robot to compete in VEX V5 robotics competitions against other schools in the Lower Mainland and North Vancouver. Also featured were our various Media Clubs where students collaborated to capture school events and produce the Bodwell Weekly News

Launching in September 2026, students in grade 10-12 can apply to join a Bodwell Real World Academy, which offers students academic pathways and specialized, enriched co-curricular courses in STEM and/or Innovative Media.

5. Community Partnerships

We’ve strengthened relationships with many local community partners who regularly visit Bodwell to offer learning experiences to our students and (in some cases) to the wider community.

This semester, UBC Geering Up joined us for a weekend hands-on workshop on the intersection of technology and public health impacted by climate change. This workshop was open to the public.

Dynamo Fencing, Canada’s top fencing club and close neighbour of Bodwell, which was featured in this recap video, also visited Bodwell this semester to offer our students an engaging and athletically challenging series of beginner fencing lessons in our West Gym. They had a lot of fun.

6. Boarding Activities and Student Retreats

Every Friday evening and weekend, our boarding team organizes on and off-campus adventures for our students to bond with one another, fostering friendships and personal growth. Students go on community outings to have hot chocolate at Lonsdale Quay, attend Vancouver Whitecaps games, sing karaoke with their classmates on campus, and so much more. Our day and weekday boarding students are encouraged to register for these school-run activities and connect with their peers on the weekends.

One of the adventures featured in our recap video was our annual leadership retreat our student parliament members take every September to Camp Summit in Squamish.

7. Poetry in Voice Competition

There were a couple special events featured in this recap video. One of them was our Poetry in Voice Competition where students memorized and performed poetry and then competed for best orator at a very heart felt assembly. While our judges deliberated, our teachers Mr. Chung and Mr. Ng took to the stage for a comedic (and talented) intermission.

8. Our Annual World Tour Event

Our annual Bodwell World Tour is a much-anticipated event on campus. Students collaborate with peers who share their cultural heritage and bring a global city to life, decorating a classroom and sharing that culture’s games, food, and traditions with their classmates. Students receive a World Tour Passport and explore the world, and by that we mean Bodwell, learning about cultures around the world in each classroom they visit. Here’s a recap video of this year’s World Tour Event to enjoy.

9. Early Graduation

With five courses offered per semester instead of four, our students have the option of graduating early or taking enough courses to satisfy multiple academic pathways as they settle on the university program that is most aligned with their vision for their future.

This Winter, we celebrated more than 60 graduates who have earned admission to an impressive range of degree programs at leading Canadian institutions such as the University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia, as well as internationally renowned universities including University of Southern California and Erasmus University Rotterdam.

After a well-earned break between February and September, they will begin programs in International Business Administration, Speech Science, Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Media Studies, Molecular Biology, Psychology, Global Sports Management, Aviation, Physiotherapy, and more.

The range of programs our graduates are entering highlights the strength of our  Personalized Pathways program. It empowers students with the resources and self-awareness to discover and pursue their passions at Bodwell, and to gain admissions to the fields that inspire them most.

Our Spring Semester is well underway with our local and international students studying hard, making lifelong friendships, taking initiative on student parliament, and just generally having “the best days of their lives.”
